People need to correct their perspective about Buddhism.Although Gautama Buddha was born in Lumbini,India (presently in Nepal),very few people in India have any knowledge about Buddhism or Buddha, leave the rest of the world (I’m not counting the Buddhist countries of East Asia).
First of all,Buddhism is not a religion;it is a practice. It does not involve beliefs or a godly figure, rather it involves a set of principles mainly laid down by a man(a great saint),Siddhartha Gautama & extended by other similar personalities.Next thing, while Siddhartha Gautama is many times referred to as Buddha but the term ‘Buddha’ is used for a person who has attained highest level of consciousness & that is why,any human on the planet has the ability to become a Buddha.
Siddhartha was born in a Hindu family. The incidences of his life were very dramatic giving us a hint that he was sent by god (as we all are) for a very special reason. The principles/teachings of Buddha are called DHARMA.
While Science has taught us to build better cities, expressways, factories but it has not taught us Love,Compassion,Forgiveness,Gratitude so as to build better humans. This loophole of Science has been taken care by Buddhism. The goal of Buddhism is to attain NIRVANA which means an end to all of the suffering one has to face from day to day while living on Earth.
In the end, I must add that I’m not promoting any religion nor I’ve any intentions to disregard the other religions.I’ve been born in a Hindu family but first I am a HUMAN.I just wanted to share with you all some basic points about a man Siddhartha Gautama, nearly of 550 B.C who laid the foundations for evolution of humanity & made us aware about the unfathomable power of LOVE which has always been there & will always be there.
