GIFTS FOR 2015

The Earth has completed yet another rotation around its axis.It has now crossed a point in its orbit which, science estimates,it has crossed more than 4.5 billion times. It reminds me a saying During this festive season, while many people are busy buying ‘things’ for other people,I’ve made a list which you can gift yourself this new year:

1.Exercise.Half an hour each day will do great. You don’t have to join a gym & do heavy work out.Walking with running alone will be sufficient. With this you can live longer, remain healthier & be more alert.
2.Read Books. And by books,I do not mean fiction & novels.I mean books of self help, higher consciousness,Metaphysics, spiritual,Cosmology.(To save your time I’ve listed these in ‘Books to Read’ section in Menu.Go to that page & help yourself.)3.Meditation.This is invaluable. You’ll have a peaceful mind & heightened awareness. The more you practice, more better you’ll get;So have a little Patience. The first time you’ll experience true inner silence, you’ll want to remain in that state forever.

4.Gratitude.Whatever be the external conditions, always remain in a state of Gratitude.Go on a rampage of appreciation for everything that you have, everything that you are, everything that you observe. You will start to see miracles in your life.
5.Selfless Service.Look for small opportunities to help someone in a train or a market or any regular place.

6.Learn something new.
Any musical instrument or cooking or a new language;anything that you like.It keeps you younger, more creative, interested in life.

7.Retire your Ego.Ego,as a part of brain can’t be removed;but it can be retired due to lack of its use.Disregard the feelings that come from ‘I/Me/Mine’.Make an effort to cease labeling yourself as a means of Identifying who you are as a human being. When you stop identifying exclusively through your form, then age, profession, race, sex, nationality, financial picture, awards, any other label become meaningless.

8.
Protect your Environment. Not only caring in a theoretical way,but also actively promoting practices such as waste recycling, water conservation, promoting greenery.
These gifts would make you richer beyond any material gift.Open them with willingness & revel in them for many happy years to come.Wishing you all a Happy New year.May you set the foundations of love & peace this year & help Humanity live in complete harmony with nature.

Do you practise yoga by the way?

I practice meditation but yoga is different from deep meditation.Yoga was founded in India during 8th century AD.

The aim of yoga is to achieve a union of inner & outer
universe. It is an effort to seperate the soul (the Reality) from the non-soul (the Apparent).

I was absolutely unaware of different practices in Yoga till I found a book on the web recently.I am currently reading it & it covers every aspect beautifully.
I would recommend you to go to the ‘Books to Read’ section & download that book–Yoga aphorisms.

Thanks for the link, I’ll download the book right now 🙂 Yay, words for the soul!

I am a certified yoga teacher (although in my mind it takes an entire lifetime to truly call oneself a teacher) and for our training we studied Patanjali’s sutras and also the Bhagavad Gita. Such awesome stuff… really resonates. The main aim of yoga, which means union in sanskrit, is to unify the individual with the cosmos – to reach liberation. People in the western world tend to think of yoga as just the exercises but that’s only one limb of the eight limbs of yoga and the reason why we practise the poses is to quiet the body and mind to be able to sit in meditation for hours comfortably. Yoga is an entire way of life.
On the topic of the postures though and doing classes, my favourite is kundalini yoga because it focuses on breathing and the core and afterwards you feel like you can do anything in the world! haha. We always meditate at the end of the class too for 15 minutes. I struggle to get the discipline to meditate on my own but this year I will make a point of doing so outside of classes just in my own time too.

But what I have been trying to do is to remain conscious and aware in each moment so that life becomes more of a meditation and instead of needing to take time to sit I try to be present in each moment (it’s not always easy of course).

        Have you heard of Krishnamurti?

Thanks for the link Randy! Have a blessed day brother x x x

Such powerful words you have.I liked in the beginning when you said that although you are a teacher but still a learner.Krishnamurti once said that the process of learning does not end with the school but continues though out our whole life.
Its amazing you’ve already had training of the eight limbs of Yoga.Good to here about Bhagavad Gita too.I believe it is a book which is not confined to a particular religion but can help an average human adult who has seen ups & downs in his life to seek for the absolute truth.

The point you made about meditation is also very encouraging. While deep meditation involves ceasing every physical & mental actions, but the real purpose
to be attained is the stillness of Mind. This can also be done if we try to remain fully conscious in each moment of our lives(which as you mentioned is not easy). But,as a true learner,I am a big fan of ‘PRACTICE’.If we maintain discipline to put efforts,we will get better at it each day and every action from brushing your teeth to driving your car will become meditation.
It feels so nice that someone resonates with you so much.
And J.Krishnamurti has been such a good teacher for me.I’ve learnt so much from his speeches & videos & articles.I still have his collection with me.

Loved to hear from your side.Keep coming by.I wish Love & peace fill your inner & outer Universe.Thank you dear.

What a brilliant string of gifts you list here, dear friend. I absolutely love it all – top to bottom. I especially love that definition of spirituality you share. I’ll tuck that one in close and remember it.

Here’s to a year full of loving, peaceful, joyous connections – to ourselves, each other and our planet. Thank you for your wonderful, enlightening and generous spirit, Randy. 🙂

    Blessings and light,

Thanks Allison.I believe you are already possessed with these gifts. There are some people who start their new year with many resolutions which are mostly desires. So i thought of these gifts which should not be seen as resolutions but something which should become a part of us & our attitude towards Life.
And these gifts would open up the doors for Love, peace, harmony with nature, good health & stillness of Mind;which I personally believe is the true wealth for man.

Thank you mam for your encouragement & blessings. It is only because of this love from your side that I can keep going–‘Alone we can do nothing & together we can conquer the Universe.’
